CSEC Duty Log | A New Beginning

Mission: Lacuna
Location: Security Office, USS Saratoga

Lieutenant Compton walked into the Chief Security officer's office. His face was red, with his forehead dripping with sweat. He had just left the brig, having completed the arrest of an officer. A young man had been promoted to junior lieutenant and was celebrating with his friends in his quarters. Instead of using synthehol, the man had brought Scotch Whiskey aboard the Saratoga. The partying in the quarters had grown loud and Eric had been called to deal with the problem.

Eric arrived with a second security officer, one Ensign Voltar. They broke up the party but the lieutenant grew argumentative. So Eric decided to take him to the brig to cool off. As they approached the brig, the lieutenant decided at that moment to resist, and it took all of their combined strength to get the man into the brig.


Eric approached the Chief of Security on the Saratoga, with a PADD containing a report on the incident. The officer's department head would be notified, and the ship's executive officer would have to decide on the appropriate disciplinary measure. Eric somehow hoped that this would not be a career ending infraction, although it would certainly mean that this young man would not earn his second full pip anytime soon.


Eric nodded to the Chief: "Sir, here's my report. As you can see, Lieutenant Smith gave us quite a bit of trouble. Maybe we should reconfigure the transporters to check for ethanol better."


Commander Blake nodded. "Indeed. I will send your suggestion to the Chief Engineering Officer. I'm glad you were able to take care of that so efficiently."


Eric returned his nod. "Thank you, sir."


Blake continued: "I have some more news for you. I know you have been wanting to have a chance to run your own department. I know the Saratoga hasn't really been giving you the leadership responsibilities you've been seeking in your career. So I have some good news."


"What's that, Commander?"


"I have transfer orders for you. You are being transferred to Cold Station Theta, as their new Chief of Security. The Saratoga will soon be docking at Starbase 211. When that happens, you should take the next transport to the Station."


"Sir?" Eric replied in disbelief.

"It's the real deal, Eric. It's been a pleasure to work with you. Now I hope you do a bang up job at CS Theta. They need it!"


"Thank you sir."


"You're dismissed." Eric shook the Commander's hand and quickly left the office, as he went to gather his gear.
