Welcome to the Cold Station Theta!

Some things you can only learn in a storm...

A sentinel at the edge of Federation space, Cold Station Theta sits poised to become a strategic and diplomatic powerhouse. From humble beginnings as a refueling station prior to the Dominion War, the station’s location has put it at the convergence of diplomatic and strenuous relations with the Stenellian Ascendancy, an advanced and powerful interstellar player. The actions of her crew are closely watched by both the Federation and the Ascendancy. To make matters worse, there is a third player in the game. The Romulan Star Empire has taken an interest in allying with the Stenellis and nearly succeeded in turning them fully against the Federation.

As diplomats work to maintain the peace, new frontiers of science and exploration have opened. The Ul-Kamari Expanse, a vast and volatile nebula, beckons initial study. New cultures and new civilizations are discovered with increasing regularity and new threats loom on the horizon. Cold Station Theta has been fully redesigned and rebuilt becoming the first Salyut Class Space Station. She offers state of the art science and medical facilities, an extensive arboretum and botanical garden, comfortable living spaces for crew, an extensive promenade for socioeconomic interaction, multiple diplomatic suites and meeting facilities, and powerful defensive systems. With over twelve hundred and fifty decks, this facility rivals Earth Space Dock in size and population interchange.

Serving as the home of Beta Quadrant Headquarters, Cheydinhall Sector Command, and the Cheydinhall Expeditionary Fleet this station is never short on action or political intrigue. The command staff, Evan Merlin and James Stacker, would like to welcome you to the future. Select join and apply today for the duty assignment of a lifetime.

» New Plot Launching

Posted on Mon Jan 4th, 2021 @ 3:39am by Commander James Stacker in Sim Announcement

Good evening all,

First off, the Command Team would like to wish everyone a Happy New Year. We hope that wherever you are, and most certainly in light of the events that marred 2020, the year was ultimately kind to you and your loved ones.

As we move into the New Year, we also want to make everyone aware of several things. First, we've started a new plot ("A Distant Thunder") in loose coordination with the USS Vindicator sim of UCIP. The first few plot logs have already been posted, so everyone should be up-to-date as we move into this. (We'd also like to caveat by saying that although the plot may seem peripheral to the station, at the moment, it will definitely move into our corner of the universe later on.)

Second, the Command Team has been in communication with UCIP higher-ups concerning the ongoing issue of logs not being delivered to email inboxes. The issue has been traced to lack of access to the Master Control Panel used by UCIP administrators. We have been told that there has been progress in resolving the issue, but there is no firm timeline as to when this might be resolved. Further updates will of course be passed along as we become aware of them.

Third and finally, the roster is being purged of inactive players. This is an overdue measure which will free up slots for new players (or if you'd like to shift to a new position/career field/et cetera).

Thanks all, and again, Happy New Year!

» Roll Call

Posted on Tue Aug 20th, 2019 @ 5:07pm by Commander James Stacker in Sim Announcement

Good afternoon all,

The command team is conducting a roll call to determine who would like to continue participation moving forward. The sim has been quiet for several months: we are looking to change that. Please contact the command team via PM here, or via the Discord server, if you get this message and are interested in remaining a part of the sim. Anyone who does not reply will be purged from the roster, but will be welcome to return if they should decide to do so in the future.

Thanks in advance.

Baxter

Hi everyone,

Well, you've seen the news... Bandit has stepped back for now, leaving the sim to Cmdr. Stacker and myself. I'm sure it wasn't an easy decision she made. So, first of all, I would like to thank her, on behalf of all of us, for all the work she has done for Cold Station Theta. It's a great sim and Bandit is a great simmer, and the fact that she needs to step back is a loss for all of us. Fortunately, she's not completely gone, so I fully expect her to keep us on our toes!

The best thing we can do now, therefore, is to keep the sim going forward. To that end, we'll soon start a new plot to get people back to simming. If you have any ideas or any plots you'd like to see in the future, be sure to let us know! Your input is always welcome. Until then, feel free to let your characters explore the station, drink a raktajino in the Heart of Targ of have a bite in another bar, explore the arboretum and the Promenade and have fun.

You can find Stacker, aka Baxter, and me on the UCIP Discord server, in the CSTheta channel. If you want to write a log but don't know what to write about, or if you want to invite someone for a joint log, you can ask around there. Or just hang out with us.

That's it for now. Happy simming!

Evan 'Weirdo' Merlin,
aka Sha'mer

» Changing of Times

Posted on Fri Mar 1st, 2019 @ 6:52am by Fleet Admiral Blyx Red in General News

Hi folks,

Due to time constraints in real life with my soon to be one year old and a rather large ranch to keep afloat after such a harsh winter, I am going on a bit of a hiatus. Sha'mer and Baxter will be taking up the 'hot seat' while Blyx remains in charge of Beta Fleet. So... While Blyx is still the shark in the pool, you'll want to be on your best behavior for... well... Weirdo and Stacker.

Good luck!

- Bandit

Even after years aboard the station, the XO's visits to the station's Medical Section remained a rare occurrence. Given that it encompassed a full fifty decks of the facility it was something of an oddity. Maybe it was because it was run by his wife. Maybe it was that the…

By the time the results had come back, it was deep into the night. Night, of course, was relative when it came down to living in the dark void of space, but the construct of time was still there. Another mystery that Craig rather doubted he’d ever be able to…
