Summary

The Phantom Intel Escort was designed for stealth, speed and delivering withering volleys of weapons fire upon its intended target. The Phantom is equipped with a Cloaking Device and Active Sensor Arrays. The former allows the starship to cloak while not in combat, and the latter allows the craft to gather information about their target to expose a vulnerability in their defenses.

Able to conduct surprise ambushes and hit-and-run attacks upon enemy formations, the Phantom-class Escort's profile is designed to maximize its ability to stay hidden while it approaches hostile ships under cloak. To this end, the ship's hull consists of a small, flattened saucer hull with two compact, low-profile warp nacelles. Its rounded silhouette is similar to that of the Tactical Escort, though without a distinctive deflector "head" portion, more reminiscent of the Gallant-class tactical escort variant.

The Phantom's main deflector dish is almost hidden, within a recessed niche along the dorsal surface of the main hull. The slightly raised bridge area is flanked by two armored secondary hull compartments which extend out slightly past the trailing edge of the saucer, then link up in a spoiler-like "tail" configuration, similar to the aft sections of the Blockade Runner Escort and Norway-class Heavy Escort.

The ship's basic hull material is black, with no visible windows, rendering the Phantom difficult to see against the background of space, if not for thin, blue running light strips. Translucent panels along the front edges of the saucer shield instruments that coordinate data from the Phantom's active sensor probe once launched.
